Your role at BRE
- Deliver independent, end-to-end internal audits in line with the approved audit plan, from scoping through to reporting and action tracking.
- Provide high-quality, timely assurance to the Executive, Trust, Board, and Risk & Audit Committee on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Critically evaluate business processes, systems, and strategies, and recommend improvements that are relevant, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Build strong working relationships with managers and Heads of Departments, acting as a trusted advisor while maintaining professional independence.
- Produce clear, insightful audit reports that highlight risks, control gaps, and practical recommendations.
- Monitor the implementation of agreed management actions and follow up to ensure improvements are embedded.
- Contribute to shaping a stronger risk and control culture across the business through constructive engagement and clear communication.
- Uphold internal audit standards, ethical guidelines, and independence at all times.
What we are looking for:
Essential
- Substantial experience in external or internal audit, with responsibility for the full audit cycle (scoping, delivery, reporting, and action tracking).
- Comprehensive knowledge of governance, risk management, and the role of internal audit.
- The ability to critically appraise business processes, systems, and strategies, and to make practical, value-adding recommendations.
- A relevant professional qualification such as CIA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence effectively while maintaining independence.
- Proven experience of managing audit assignments independently from start to finish.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Agresso and D365 ERP systems.
- Experience of providing assurance over organisational change programmes.
- Knowledge of the UK construction sector.

Work Location Options
Hybrid – This role offers a mix of home and office working. You will need to be within commuting distance of our Watford office, as you will be expected to attend in person (2 times per Week).
